As a solo traveller during low season it was difficult to join a group, but Patcha made everything possible to tailor a trip for me on my 2 available days of travel. The whole staff I met during my stay was amazing, I found a charming atmosphere and their kindness was outstanding. The local food cooked was huge and so delicious, taking care of my little spicy request. The tour itself is a real adventure in the middle of the forest, the guides are professionals, well prepared, speaking good ebglish, and always do their best to make you feel comfortable and safe. It’s impossible not to enjoy every single moment of the journey, no words can describe the fascination of the wild, the environment is unique and the far distance from the crowded big cities made this trip even more worthfull! My 2 days were not enough, next time I’d like to go well beyond to explore even more with this fantastic team! Thank you!

From the very first moment we felt welcome and comfortable. Everything was done to make the trip an unforgettable experience for us. The guide and the cook were terrific. When we told the cook that we like spicy food, he took that immediately into account. The guide explained a lot of things about plants and how people live in the mountain village. His English was good enough. We enjoyed every second of this adventure. If you like nature and hiking, you will not be disappointed. We thank the complete team for a great trip.

We went with 2 friends and had 2 guides with us. We loved this tour, it’s one of our favorite things about Thailand. It takes a bit of time to get to Umphang but it’s worth it as the area is very beautiful. We were pretty much the only tourists in the places we visited. Thank you to the whole team for this experience.

We had 4 fantastically impressive days on the Thi Lor Su-explorer tour with wonderful views from the rubber dinghy, 2 impressive waterfalls including swimming in them, great hikes – some quite challenging but easily doable. Our two guides were super nice and we laughed a lot. We would recommend this trip again and again to anyone looking for a special adventure away from the main tourist routes.

Wir hatten ein tolles, außergewöhnliches, abenteuerlichen Erlebnis mit wunderbarem Rafting auf dem Fluss Mae Sok ein toller Besuch an 2 Wasserfällen inklusive Schwimmen und Erfrischen und ganz tollen Wanderungen durch tolle Landschaften, teilweise nicht ganz einfache Wege. Wir hatten zwei supernette guides mit denen wir viel Spaß hatten. Immer wieder gerne!!!!

Amazing trek in the jungle, super one night staying with a family in Kota village and discovering their life and places! Out of the routes of commercial journeys, we had the pleasure of a good organization!!

Now we are back home and think back to a great trip in Thailand. An absolute highlight was the “Thi Lor Su Explorer”. We had exciting days, which started with an adventurous journey in a pick-up (meant is the kind of car, – pick-up) bus from Mea Sot to Umphang. The hikes were demanding, but doable for normally fit people. Bathing in the waterfalls without any other people around was very refreshing and exiting. The company of the guide was very friendly, helpful and always explained us something about nature and culture. I recommend these tours for people who have a desire for adventure off the classic tourist trails. We did this tour as a family with our 16years old son.

We are now back after a month trip around Thailand. This tour was one of the best experiences in our tour. It was very personal and unique experience off the beaten path. It’s a bit tricky to get to, but the drive is scenic and enjoyable, and Umphang adventures help you in any way they can to get there and to leave (on time for your next adventure). Even though it was outside the trip, Patcha helped us book bus tickets to our next destination, which made our lives, so much easier. Our guide Kwao was super friendly and informative about the area, flora and fauna, and made us some nice food on our journey. The visit to the Karen village was very interesting, and swimming in the waterfalls was refreshing and fun, albeit a bit cold. Overall, we would definitely recommend making some time getting to Umphang and having an adventure with Umphang Adventures!

Great tour – We had a 3D3N tour visiting several waterfalls. While the journey to Umphang is long, it is definitely worth it. The team helped me with the planning and was overall very supportive. It is a private tour which is great – you have the waterfalls sometimes for your own and can decide on your speed. Our guides were great and they prepared great meals for us! Thank a lot for this experience!

Thi Lor Su Explorer: a major highlight on our Thailand backpacking trip. While backpacking we usually avoid guided tours because of the budget aspect and because we love exploring on our own. But this tour you really shouldn’t miss. It is 100% worth the trip to Umphang. Guided by Kao, who speaks enough English to understand and his colleague mister Win who happened to be an amazing cook, we explored the jungle and countryside of this non touristic area in Thailand. Although it is a guided tour, the guides gave us enough privacy to enjoy the scenery and meals on our own. We especially liked the relaxed rafting trip through the jungle, the campfire BBQ on our first night, the atmosphere in the Karen village and the remote waterfall we visited near the village. Before and after the trip Aoy and her staff made us feel very welcome in her peaceful guesthouse. All email communication with Patcha before the trip was very clear and friendly. Also the public Songteaw ride to Umphang was so memorable we wouldn’t have missed it. We would recommend this tour for everyone who likes adventure, hiking and camping. I have to definitely recommend Umphang adventures. If you’re booking a trip to Thailand I would limit your time in Bangkok and book a trip with them, you won’t regret it. Dont underestimate the ride from the airport in Mae Sot to Umphang, make sure you have plenty of time and coordinate with Umphang adventure, they can provide a car for a fee if you need, if you can travel at the right time you can ride the bus. The tour guides and staff are the best part of the trip. They will accommodate you for your trip and your needs, make sure you communicate with them and they will provide a fantastic experience . Umphang Adventures gave us memories for life! We had the most wonderful experience with Johnny the guide who took care of us on every step, explaining us all the secrets of the jungle and made this tour an experience we will never forget. For people who want to discover an beautiful and interesting side of Thailand and look for adventures we really recommend.

I took this tour with a friend and loved it. The scenery on the river trip and at the waterfalls was spectacular, and while there were other tourists around, a good international mix, it was not so crowded to spoil the experience. The songthaew trip was quite a surprise when a motorcycle was loaded to travel with us. I’m glad to have that experience,…

We had a great time! Sam and Mi were great guides. The waterfall was amazing, we were sad to leave. Staying at the village was an experience we will remember. Thanks again for everything.

Just want to let you know that we had a real good time on our tour. It was rough and tough but beautiful and amazing at the same time, the waterfalls and river were spectacular and the highlight for us. Thank for your mail the trip was wonderful. The environment was amazing and Johny was a very very good guide and host just like the second guide who was with us (i forgot his name) Johny made sure we wouldn’t come short of anything. The trip through the jungle was really cool and so was the climb to the the top of the waterfall. He is very skilled and knows everything about the forest. The second day was the trekking to the Karen village, we had a lot of rain (but i guess its not called a rainforest for nothing!) And we thought that this was the real jungle experience. Johny cooked for us and told us about the Karen people, we felt really at home with him. We had a blast and it was a fantastic experience, please thank Johny again from us and let him know we had a wonderful trip and we would recommend a trip with him to everyone. Getting the songthaew was easy and everybody was really helpful at the bus station in Mae Sot (and the songthaew driver even asked us to make the journey to Umphang inside the cabin with him). Our tour was amazing, the weather always sunny and Johnny was just perfect, always ready to help, thinking ahead to our needs. Climbing to the top of the falls was amazing and the stay at the Karen village a very authentic and strong experience. We just want to thank you for this wonderful adventure and the great time we had thanks to Johnny and all the organization. Hope to come back to Thailand one day and enjoy another tour with you. Just a quick note to say that my friend and I had an amazing time in Thailand and Umphang adventure was an absolute highlight! Mike has provided an excellent know-how as to what we need to bring etc. and has been very responsive (it’s not always a given when it comes to organizing such treks) and thorough when it came to comms before the journey. It was all very well organised. And then the actual trek with Johnny and exploring the waterfall and the areas around it (stunning!!)… oh lord, this guy is a star! So kind so humble so helpful and so knowledgeable (and very environmentally friendly and conscious)! We trekked through the jungle and he would keep showing us animal prints, unusual insects, bringing up random and very interesting facts about animals’ habitat. He was also incredibly caring – we felt really looked after. He;s also really funny and has got good sense of humour – all that you need when spending few days with someone. All in all I would recommend it to anyone who’s keen to explore the less frequented side of Thailand (which is…stunning!)!

I just wanted to let you know that we are now back in Germany after we had an awesome trip through Thailand and Vietnam for the last 4 1/2 weeks. It was a really nice experience for us to do the trekking and rafting tour in Umphang and I wanted to thank you a lot for taking so good care of us! We have never done something like this before and so it was quite an interesting adventure. The people were very friendly to us and we felt very welcomed at any place we arrived during the tour. But especially I wanted to thank our guide Johnny. It was very interesting to get to know so much things about the jungle you may not read in any book (surviving, animals, food). It was nice to see that he really enjoyed it taking care of Christian and me and was always having a nice conversation with us, asking if everything is fine. For someone living in this area his English was very good. I think that is in fact one of the reasons that made the tour so interesting for us. It was a nice feeling if your are rafting down the river or trekking through the jungle and he suddenly stops to explain some very interesting facts that I would have never taken notice of. Please let him know that when you meet him again during another tour! I know there are many enterprises offering a tour like this but I am glad we chose this one. At first we did not really know what we should expect from a tour like this so deep in the jungle and far away from the civilization. Will there occur any problems or inconveniences? But I must admit there is nothing I can complain about…everything from arrival until the day we left happened without any problems. The organisation was very good, we had enough food and water all the time, the places to sleep were fine. I am not doing any sports and I broke my ankle some months before the trip (it wasn’t completely recovered by the time of the trip) but I had no problems during the whole time and I think I can recommend this trip to everybody who has ever wanted to experience the deepest jungle and a really beautiful waterfall. The landscape was just amazing. I liked the tour so much I just wanted to give you this review of my impressions. Hope to see you again one day! Greetings Philipp.
